Writing Is Like Breathing To Me

It feels like a very long time since I have written, yet it has only been a couple of weeks... I am glad that I took the time for a variety of reasons, one I actually started getting a handle on my housework, it had began to be a problem. I still have a bit to do but I am on the right path. Two, I needed to think about if I wanted to write here again... I took the time to go through many of my blog posts, reading and sharing them. What I concluded from all of it was that although I may write about the same topic often, I have grown from it each time.

Nobody masters anything immediately, we learn a little more each time, be it about forgiveness, love, growth, challenges... etc... It is much like how I changed to become healthy by eating better and exercising. I found that with writing, it kept me accountable... these past two weeks I have been doing my own thing and feeling the effects from it. I want to change that, I want to get back on track and I knew with writing I could get there again... I wrote a thought down about a week or so ago and I thought about it a lot each day.
I heard someone say how music was like breathing to them... I then wrote 'writing is like breathing to me'... I think we each have something that we are passionate about, something we love that makes us come alive... Well, writing is what does it for me. I remember when I was growing up and most of my family were artists and I thought, why didn't I get that awesome talent? I came to understand that this was their passion and mine came through writing my thoughts.

I don't pretend to think I am a great writer by any means but what I do have going for me is that I am open and honest about who I am and how I feel... I have had many people tell me how they appreciate and admire that in me... I never understood that it's not something that is easy to do until recently... each time I write it's like exposing a part of myself ... that isn't simple.
When I started writing many years ago, something I had wanted to do for a long time, I had no idea that I would have so many people throughout the world that would care about what I was going through or what I have come through in my life. When I decided not to write and to think about if I wanted to continue, I offered for you all to connect with me in other ways and I was extremely touched with how many people reached out to me.

I've heard many people talk about the page views they have per day, the massive amounts of followers they have attained and how successful their blog has become... I realized that even if I don't have all of that I am successful in that I have wonderful people that really care about me throughout the world... besides the truth is that no matter what, I will always write because 'writing is like breathing to me.'

  1. I feel a lot like that, too. Writing is like breathing to me- what a great way to put it. My blog is mostly a family journal- a journey through life of where my kids/grandkids are at. One of the most amazing things happened two years ago this week though. It was two years ago THIS WEEK our youngest grandson, CJK, was so sick. They thought he was going to die-the doctors could not figure out what was wrong with him.. A blogger-Lauren- read his symptoms-sent me to another blog and Kristen diagnosed him via her blog (her son had the same thing-Kawasaki Disease) ---and CJK was cured with the proper medication with no after effects. Had it been one day later- he might not have made it-or if he had he would have needed a heart transplant. I have often thought that if I blogged for no ohter reason it was so that God could connect us with who we needed to connect withto save that little boy. He is a pure joy in our lives and has no memory of how sick he was. xo Diana

  7. Oh YAY you are back! I tend to drivel on about the same things over and over and over. It's ok. This is your space and you don't have to justify it to anyone but yourself. If our minds need to be repetitive let them. Welcome back! xoxo

  15. Hi Launna, a very warm welcome back to you, and a hug, too. I just wrote a nice long comment which Blogger saw fit to eat up. :( Since I didn't copy and paste it I am trying to write another one, which this time I will copy, just in case! LOL! I said that although I do write sometimes to express myself, I don't have the talent to express myself as well as I would like. You, on the other hand, I feel, have a talent for writing and a very good one at that. :)

  20. I've studied the craft of writing for years and the more I learn the more I realize I don't know squat. But like you, I just write. I think the practice of writing makes you better. I think reading well is a factor.
Like you, when I look back I find I write about the same things a great deal. I seem to spread my wings when I go somewhere new, or have a new experience.
But I plan to continue writing as long as I can and maybe one day I'll find my voice.

Passion is one of the most important things in life, so one should definitely follow it as much as possible, beacuse it do become people better!
Of course it shouldn't beacome a work, so continue writing as much as you want ad when you want, in my opinion it's very healty for you! :)

  24. Hi Launna,

I've seriously seriously seriously missed you on bblogosphere even though we still see each other on IG and FB. I've got lots of your posts to catch up on but I wanna leave a comment on this first.

This posts practically shouts out to me. I feel just like you do on writing. Writing helps clear my thoughts, helps me get back on track, writing keeps me accountable especially when I set off to do something in the past and then to look back and see how I've progressed. Writing is like breathing to me too. People often say I write well but I know that I'm only suited to write a certain style of writing and that's the style that I write on my blog. I've been feeling lousy about writing papers at work coz that's not my style of writing at all and recently when I mentioned how my writing for work sucks, my superior reminded me that she hired me for my proficiency in English and writing. This struck me awake for a while as I realised how much I've missed writing on my blog. Sometimes I wished I had more time to keep writing on.

I'm so glad that you write, Launna. Really glad.

I'm with you... I write poetry and song lyrics when I'm emotional... sad emotional. Sometimes I write stories, too. Usually expressing myself in the art form of writing, a release comes about... and the therapy of art is proven.

Hope you enjoy the holiday tomorrow... Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

  40. Dear Launna, it makes me so happy to see you back on track! I truly missed your posts but as I said before, knowig that you took that time for yourself made the wait easier.
I'm glad to know that these past weeks served to not only for practical reasons like housework but also to think about your writing. I think you're a realy talented writer! I wouldn't be able to put in words such complex thoughts and yet make them understandable and even reletable for all of us. I agree with one of the quotes you shared, it would be unfair to compare yourself with other writers because each of you write from a very personal place, but I can tell you, your articles are inspiring to many people, including me, and to me that's a total success!
    Once again, welcome back!!! <3

  50. I also admire your honesty and open mindness, Launna! Since the start of my blog I'm impressed of how many people care about my so called ramblings and the things I share or have to say (even through commenting on other blogs). We, bloggers have definitely a strong voice... though I consider mine not to me strong enough since I'm still struggeling with exposing myself each time. That's why I love to read thought provoking blogs like yours, Launna! Quite often they exactly reflect my opinion as well.
Have a wonderful weekend, dear! And thank you so much for your amazing support!!

  53. I can totally tell that writing is like breathing to you. It has a natural flow and you keep your audience engaged. When I read you it's almost like I don't want to blink lest I miss a detail. Your story about your family members' talents reminds me of one I read to my kindergarten class titled 'Jennifer Bing, why won't you sing?'. Every member of her family played an instrument but she couldn't play any. She ended up finding her talent. I love happy endings and that was one. Just like yours Launna dearest. I am beside myself with joy that you decided to come back to us and to writing. I did a happy dance when I read that. Welcome back, happy advent my friend.
