Freedom Is The Path I Choose

Have you ever sat down to write something and been certain what you wanted to say, only to find that while you are trying to write something, it keeps going in another direction? This rarely happens to me as I get an idea, I start to write and it just comes out. Of course there are times it is more clear then others but I rarely struggle to get my point across. Tonight I struggled, I wrote a whole post and after I finished I read it and it was the most disjointed writing I have done in a long time. Usually I have one idea, this time I had two different ones that didn't really work with each other if that makes any sense?

Instead I felt the need to write about challenges, last week I wrote about how I was finally ready to forgive a woman who I don't even know personally that has gone out of her way to hurt me in any way she could through lies... truly forgiving her has helped me a great deal this week... when I thought about her, normally I would become angry and frustrated, this week I took her for what she was an insecure woman who has no trust, I actually felt sorry for her and I had pity.. how sad must it be that she isn't happy enough with herself that she feels the need to bring other people down?
Although I have a long road ahead of me, I am now on the right path... it bothered me that I had such difficulty getting passed the feelings I had for her when I have forgiven many people in my life that have hurt me a great deal... I intellectually understood that true forgiveness is really to free ourselves but for some reason emotionally I held on to the thoughts I had of her... thinking by forgiving her it was saying what she has said and continues to say about me is okay... Today I no longer care, they are lies and I  have no need to prove her wrong... the truth will come out and it won't even be by me.

It was like when my ex step mother Ruth was abusive physically and emotionally to me and my sisters... when I forgave her and moved on, I no longer wanted to get revenge on her for the pain she caused me, I knew that it would come, I didn't wish it and I wanted no part in it... that is how I am feeling about that woman today... It was difficult for me to realize my part in this for the past couple of years, by holding on to her, I was drawing all her negativity and lack of self worth to me...
I always thought I was so good at forgiving people, until she became a part of my life... and I took on that mentality that since she had wronged me and lied about me... I had a right to defend myself and prove to her that she was wrong... who cares what she thinks of me, she isn't going to change her mind about me, she wants to dislike me and there is nothing I can do or say to change that,  I can only change my mind... which I have done...

Although I don't need or want certain people in my life that have hurt me greatly... I choose to forgive them and have compassion for them even. If I could not forgive these people, who am I to expect this for myself? ... I am sure I have hurt someone a long the way in my life, I don't think I have done it on purpose but indirectly I am sure I have... I would hope that I could be forgiven too... I know some people will say or think that when someone goes out of their way to hurt you, that it's harder to let that go, I think it is needed even more then...  It honestly has brought about a path of freedom I forgot even existed and taught me that forgiveness is a form of love and a choice I make...

  3. I can totally relate with what you've said at the first paragraph. Sometimes, I mean most of the times, I am like that. I have so much in my mind that when I began to write it down, I tend to forget what was the main point that I wrote about. Anyways, with forgiving the woman who hurts you in the past is totally the right thing to do. I have been hurt as well but when I learned to forget I began to feel good about myself, no grudges, no hatred, just pure love. Right now, I really don't mind those people who tried to bring me down, I'll just pray that they'll be able to have the peace of mind to realize that they are all wrong. :) Congrats Launna on finally found the courage to forgive. :) xx

  10. This is an eloquent and well-written blog post Launna, and you make lots of valid points. Sometimes we hold onto things that are actually detrimental, and it takes a conscious effort to break the habit. I'm really glad to hear you're taking control and determining your own path.

It's always great to visit your blog and read your thoughts on things.

  11. forgiveness is definitely freeing yourself of the negativity and the energy sap that you might feel come over all of a sudden like a big, dark cloud of gloom. I am so happy you are past this point in your journey.

  14. Dear Launna, I'm so proud of your progresses!!
You're working hand on yourself and get great results! And you are becoming an example for many other women that struggle like you!
I thnik that learn to forgive is one of the most hard thing to do in the life, I'm not good at all in forgiving, but luckily I'm loved by enough people to be very good in don't care about mean people, still I hope to learn how to forgive one day!
Keep on going like this, dear! :D

  16. Hugs to you.
I had the same thing, forgiving a woman I didn't know who had hurt me...it took a long time. Sometimes these things simply need time and it is ok to not be there yet, it is a progression. In my experience as long as getting over it and forgiving is the goal, and we consciously keep that goal, the rest eventually falls into place. And then enough time passes and it just truly doesn't matter anymore. It is very liberating.

  17. Launna, I'm in awe of you and of how much you're willing to work on yourself to be happy and the best version of you :) You have come so far and you continue to amaze me!
I know exactly how you felt while writing and it went into a different direction, that sometimes happens to me, too. I usually take a break then and write it all over again ;)
I am learning a lot from you, because I still have a long way to go when it comes to forgiving the people that have hurt me the most.
I'm so happy that you can finally let go and free yourself! Thank you so much for being so open and sharing this with us <3
Sending lots of love and many hugs to you,

  25. I think it can be harder to forgive someone when they go out of their way to do something negative to us. It doesn't mean we can't forgive them, but it might take us a little longer to get there. It sounds like you have forgiven this woman and now I think the positive impact of that forgiveness will be very freeing. :)

    Have a lovely week!

  26. This is a great post, Launna. I try to keep in mind that I can't control what other people do or say. The only thing I can control is how I react to them. If she chooses to believe in lies and spread them to others, there's nothing you can do to stop her. You can control your own reaction which is to forgive her and even feel sorry for her. And you're right, being able to forgive someone and move on with your life is definitely a kind of freedom that you are granting to yourself.

  37. You humble me, Launna and enlightens me on how I should let go my own resentments. You're right, if I don't do the same for others then how can I expect the same kindness from them? You've been through so much and yet you persevered and didn't let drown yourself in self pity, it's admirable my friend.

ps: Don't you worry about spelling my name wrong, trust me when I say it's very normal for me. Many did the same too. LOL! xx

  41. I know how to many ideas feels. Could sound awsome to be inspired by everything, but most time they just overthrow each other, since I'm doing one thing and my heart is already somewhere else.
I also don't usually hold anything against anyone, since it's so tiring and downbringing. For me best way to express my feelings turned out to be writting lyrics, you can really go deep or say it very simple :)

Stay possitive, it's the best aspiration you can give to others <3

  49. The post you just read of mine was going in a rambling direction. Just so happens that the browser crashed and I lost a good bit of it that hadn’t saved. I thought it was really good and so I tried to recapture it. That’s so hard to do. It turned out better than what I started with though for a moment I was too frustrated to continue writing. I had to inhale and exhale peace ;-) I don’t know what word you’ve chosen but I bet it along the lines of how you’ve come to the conclusion to deal with situation. Is it freedom? I’ll wait…. ;-)

Tell me about those disjointed write ups, haha. Happens to me every once in a while too but for the most part once I start writing, it's hard for me to stop. In fact I'm working on that, trying to make my posts shorter.
