A Better Choice For Me

I had a very good week of exercise, I walked 6 of the last 7 days and a few of those days were nice long walks. Joining up with the two challenges I did really helped to motivate me, I don't need a contest where I can win something, just having others that are in the same situation who encourage and inspire each other, getting healthy is winning anyway. It isn't about who can get the most steps, it is about each of us individually doing our best. We have a goal of about 12,000 steps per day but if we don't reach it, we praise each other for what we have done and inspire each other to do better the next day.

It feels good to be motivated again, it was a long road for me to work myself back to the path I was on... I am no where near where I was and I am aware it will take me a long time to get back there. For the time being, I am not even looking at speed as much as I am looking at distance. I have slowed down but started walking longer distances... I think it is the best way for me to build up my stamina again... going too quickly could one, injure me and two, tire me out quickly where I won't feel like exercising daily.  There is plenty of time in the future to get my speed back up to where it was and beyond.
I have put it out in the universe that I am looking for a three bedroom apartment, it has become imperative for me to work from home, I have a few people looking out for places and I even discussed it with my boss... he said he would help push it through for me to work from home since I have all the stats and I'm able to work on my own.  I understand it will be a whole new lifestyle but for me, it would be so worth it... first I could sleep in an extra hour in the morning, second I would not have that nearly three hour trip of travel time daily and third most importantly I would be there for Valentina when she left in the morning and when she came home.

Many of my colleagues have told me that they couldn't do it as they are way too social... ahh... there are not too many people more social than I am... I don't actually go to work to hang out with people, I go to work to do my job... I can still attend outside work functions when they come up. I would actually be more likely to go to them as I would have the time and the desire. I need the third room for an office, I would love opening the door up, doing my job and then closing it at the end of the day and being home. It would give me time to prepare dinner on my lunch and I could go for a walk after work and still be home at a decent hour. It is a total win/win for me...
This has become incredibly important to me as I feel it is much more essential for me to be engaged in my life, then traveling endlessly back and forth. Life is insanely short, I am irritated by wasting it by constantly running and waiting for buses... sitting in endless busy traffic. I read a few blog posts this week about finding out what our purpose is and I honestly don't believe it entails my sitting on a bus day after day until I retire... I get more disillusioned over time, thinking this is not what my life was supposed to be like...

When I pondered that, I realized I am the only one who is in control of changing that, I can sit her and complain about the wasted hours of my life or I can do everything possible to bring about a different path... I have to decide what I want and I have determined it is very important to put myself first and make my life a little bit easier so that I can have a lot more fun and so that I can be there for Valentina for those tough teenage years... This is a choice I'm making it's better for her and for me...

  1. I hear what you're saying and understand how it feels to want for change, but you are so right in that you are the only one who can change your life. You can and I believe you will make this change because you have put it out into the universe!

  6. I wrote a comment last night and it didn't show up....arrrgh

Working from home: I can do it, and I do it about once a week. It's really great and does make a lot of things easier. I could def not do it every day though, and I'm not very social at work. The routine of getting up and getting dressed is good for me. I like my office, I LOVE my desk, and I like the separation between home and work.

I do hope this works out for you and I will hold the intention with you.

Also, I am proud of you and i wish we could go for a walk together.

  7. I always wished to work from home, sounds amazing when you can be your own superviser, you just need to keep up good tempo. I had chance to try it out once during the holidays and I think I've been more productive than on the usual day in the office.
Hope you will find nice place for you and your daughter! :)

  11. Hope this decision of yours' will be equally satisfying and fulfilling for you. I second you in thinking that, "life is too short to waste and worry." I seriously feel so mad if I don't do something I doing doing every day (something for myself) and something that adds to my life's purpose. So happy to hear you have been doing everything you can for the "better" you and soon you will realize how these healthy choices were your best decisions for yourself.
Wishing you all the very best Dear!!

  12. I like the way you make your choices and keep up with the plans you have. I would like to get some inspiration from you and start doing even light exercise instead of none. Whatever is in my capacity should be better than none. Thank you for making me feel that I am capable of doing something nice for myself. God Bless you.

  13. I am hoping you will find a three bedroom place. It sounds like you have figured out what you want and need and I think it would be a great thing for you!

Your plan for walking makes a lot of sense. You definitely don't want to go to fast and hurt yourself. I think it is great that you have such a good support system. :)

  20. I know what you mean, luckily for me I am able to work from home with my blogging and writing. It means a lot to me to be able to focus on my life properly with my health and not be too depressed having to travel to and from work everyday, making myself ill. I really hope you are able to work from home and enjoy your life a lot more. Congrats on doing the walking and enjoying it again! I'm glad you are in a better place.

  29. You're such an amazing mum, Launna. Your determination to change your work style so you could be there for your child is admirable. My husband works from home and you have no idea how much it helps to have him home all the time. He takes up the one extra bedroom in the house as his office but every now an then when he hears me stressing out about Little Tyke, he comes to help which is a privilege that most stay at home mum don't have.

  33. Your motivation is giving me motivation, Launna. I haven't been to the gym for two weeks, because of my legs, -but thanks to God its much better now. I can jump, walk without limping and run. I still can't straighten it properly, but time will tell.
Change can be good. It great you're making a room for that. All the best always, beautiful. :)

  36. Not to mention your getting back and forth in "weather". I know that was pain for you as well. This all sounds wonderful and I hope you get it!

Wow to even getting close to 12,000 steps! I guess you'll see when you work from home you'll see what I mean. If I don't go walking or leave the house, it's hard for me to break 4,000. Really active days I get close to 12,000 but that's if I've gone for an hour walk and I have other things to do away from home.

I love all these new changes in your life, I pray you're given the ok to work from home.
