Trust Can Be A Scary Two Way Street

I have been wanting to write all weekend, there seemed to be one thing or another that got in the way of that, so I finally had time to sit down and write and then the computer was acting up... I thought I might have to blog from my phone and that did not excite me... I would much rather type on a keyboard. Anyhow, I finally got my computer working.

So, I had this pretty wonderful week that I was flying high, I have been talking to the new guy a great deal... then on Saturday he surprised me with a text that he was going to be in Halifax for a few hours and he wanted to spend that time with me. We talk non stop on the phone... okay, if I am being honest, I talk non stop ... lol... he said he loves listening to me talk, he is a keeper. I do ask plenty of questions which he openly answers, however; getting to see him face to face is even better.

We just went for a drive and talked even more than usual, you can't beat seeing each other while you are talking and being able to hold hands. He tells me all the time he is the luckiest guy to have found me... I think that is sweet but I also think we are equally lucky, I didn't and don't want to be on some sort of pedestal... I am NOT perfect I have made many mistakes, he said he doesn't care and that although he thinks I am pretty wonderful, he won't put me on a pedestal, there is no where to go but down from there.

I have decided that I will put my heart out there and give him a chance, can I tell you all how scary that is... well, it is about the scariest thing I have done in years. This coming from a girl who wants that commitment ... I know how far down I am capable of falling after trusting someone with my heart in the past and frankly that scares me more than anything I have had to deal with... He's afraid too... he has been hurt, I told him I thought we were worth the try, he said yes... and that he knew I was more than worth trying for..
Even though it is has been a little challenging with his work and having to be out of town... he is very transparent with me and I actually think the distance has been a good thing. It has forced us to talk a lot and really get to know each other and the few times we have been able to get together we are both so excited that we laugh and talk endlessly wanting to find out as much as we can about the other. Thankfully, he has downtime in the Winter where we can really have one on one time to spend together, by then we will both know what we truly want from the other...

Here is my dilemma because of the way men have treated me in the past I find it extremely difficult to trust them ... I have told him that and he said he understands, he knows how men can be and he can understand where I am coming from. I told him I am tired of games and I won't play any of them... he told me he's not out to play with me, he is out to win my heart... I am going to trust him unless he gives me an excuse not to... he's doing the same with me... Trust can be a scary two way street... so far so good.

  1. Talk about last tango in Halifax! I couldn't resist (BTW I love that show even if it doesn't take place in Canada) Its good to hear you two are talking. I'd advise lots of day trips too..that is sometimes, a way to see someones true colors..on a roadtrip. And it looks like you two enjoy each other's company. Many blessings!

  2. Launna, I'm so happy to read this post from you. I'm glad that you are opening yourself up to this new gentleman in your life - if we don't take risks, nothing positive can happen. So proud of you!

  5. that sounds promising. very! I'm happy for you. and I very much get you with trust issues and not wanting to play games. it's going to be one year in August from monsieur and I. one year!!! how time flies. do I fully trust him? not sure. I do as long as things are good. a little bump on the road, however, and I feel my guards coming up. nothing I can do about it. it just happens. trust, once broken, by no matter who, is the hardest to rebuild. but I think it's worth the effort. so go for it xoxo

  8. It's MUCH easier to protect yourself and shield yourself from possibly getting hurt by putting up walls and letting no one in, but opening up to someone really does pay off sometimes! As long as you take it one step at a time and don't jump into things too quickly you'll be fine, Launna, you can do it!

  12. Ohhh noo... I just wrote a long heartfelt post and I don't know what happened to it!! :(

    Ugh... here we go again...

Basically, I shared that I can completely relate to your hesitations! I've been burned by guys in the past, and it definitely makes it hard to trust new ones! I talked to one of my best friends the other night and she insisted that all people are different and I can't let assholes from the past dictate now. Another friend also said, "there's not reward without risk."

So I have been taking both of their advice pieces and trying to get over my trust issues, I hate that they are there, because my man has given me no reason not to trust him, and I am trying to be positive and just fall in... and I hope you do to! It sounds like you are fully capable of allowing this sweet man to romance you.

I look forward to reading more and I hope you have fun, and love!

  20. A agree with you. It is easier to trust some one when their actions tell that you can trust them. Sometimes if you know some one really well, you can trust even their words.

  38. I'm really glad you are going to trust him. He sounds like a lovely guy and the distance thing is a good thing. It gives you your own independence and free time, so you don't become reliant on each other and it does force you to get to know each other in a more personal way. I know trust is extremely hard as I'm one of the most un-trusting people you can meet, but I've learned along the way that you can't tarnish everyone with the same brush. So many out there can treat you bad, but when you meet a good one, you can't treat him the same as he hasn't done anything to deserve that. Good luck with everything!

  53. I get you, Launna. Although our experiences might have been different, the apparent consequences -having some trust issues, are the same. I'm beyond happy for you now that you decided to give him a try, for what you write about him he seems to be a person worty of this try. And yes, it is scary but I think you thought about this carefully and with caution, and neither of you are acting impulsively, and that's is pretty much all the caution one can have in this stage, when we still don't know what's going to happen and it's just a matter of betting on this relationship or not. I truly wish things keep going this good! <3

It's nice to have someone like that who's transparent...trust and communication are so very important in a relationship, and I'm so happy you're giving him a chance. Trust is hard, especially when you've been betrayed in the past. It's tempting to put up walls so that we never get hurt again, but we're human. We live and we learn and we love in life, so I think it's important to let down your barriers and trust someone who you feel with your heart is a good person.
He sounds so nice! Good luck! Again, so happy for you! xx
